During the 1970s and 80s I translated many poems and short stories from English to Malayalam and Malayalam to English. Poems of Khalil Gibran were my favourite. I would do the translation and hand over to my friend T.V. Kochubava the roughly written copy or recorded voice. He would rewrite the matter neatly and show me for any correction to be made and then prepare the final fair copy and send it to some periodicals, which would publish them. Navayugom Weekly, Chithrakarthika Weekly, Kala Kaumudi Weekly and Deshabhimani weekly have published my translations. Two books of poems of Khalil Gibran, ‘The Garden of the Prophet’ and ‘Sand and Foam’ have been published by DC Books. I have also translated the short stories of Chekhov and Maupassant into Malayalam. Besides, some short stories of Kochubava, Asokan Cheruvil and Manarkad Vijayan and a novelette by George John have been translated into English.
